LAYC Membership Pack

Having sent back your completed membership form with the appropriate payment, LAYC will process your application and forward it on to Youth Scotland.

(Membership of LAYC also means automatic affiliation to Youth Scotland and access to their services).

Once we process your affiliation a LAYC Membership Pack will be sent out to you and included in this shining folder will be a number of important bits of paper.

In the pack you will find:

  • Your LAYC Membership Certificate for the year in question (remember it runs from 1st November to 31st October) which printed on it will be your affiliation number and your library/resource number. The affiliation number is also your number for Youth Scotland and you will need to quote that if you are seeking to access members services or member discounts. The library/resource number enables affiliated groups and their staff to access and borrow resources from our extensive library. To view these resources you can either do it via the website (follow links from Members) or pop in and visit us. Remember to display your certificate so staff, committee, young people, children and parents know you are affiliated to us.
  • Information about our new members only HR and Employment Service provided by Law at Work is in the pack. It can be difficult to keep up to date with the regular employment changes and to be sure that you have the right procedures in place.   This free service will include access to sample employment contracts and policies through a secure part of our website (follow links from Members); two free consultations on an employment matter(s); regular employment email updates and access to Law at Work training courses.
  • Member discounted access to a tailored auto enrolment service which will get groups set up to meet their auto enrolment requirements provided by enrolme.co.uk
  • Membership of the Co-operative Charter for after school club members with access to co-operative grants, mentor support and governance advice along with other benefits
  • Information on our regular grants programme with awards of up to £750 for Youth Tobacco Action Grants along with training and support to address tobacco issues
  • In your pack will be the latest LAYC training programme an extensive, year round training programme that is affordable, accessable and relevant to children and youth groups.  Member groups get priority bookings and special members rate. You can get  further information by clicking on the “Training” section of the website.
  • Our e-service provides access to over 1300 individuals who are registered to recieve our weekly bulletin which carries job vacancies in youth and children’s work and sign posts training and other events. This service is increasingly well received providing a very positive track record for recruiting staff and even better is a free service for members. Within the new website you will be able to post information directly to us for distribution and this service has now been extended to include e-cycle, e-networks, e-bulletins and e-vacancies.
  • An LAYC ‘Members Only’ section of website with password protected  access  to a wide range of useful resources , policies, programme ideas, toolkits etc
  • Finally, you’ll find a Membership Certificate for Borders Scrapstore which will enable you to use their resource bank and stalls at Fisherrow Community Centre and regularly held at the Inch Community Centre.

Youth Scotland will process your membership for their affiliation and you can expect a further membership pack from them within a few weeks of your affiliation to LAYC.

For those that have taken out membership with insurance cover please note your employer’s liability insurance certificate will be issued from Youth Scotland and will be included in your membership pack from them. You are required to display this insurance certificate within your operatioonal premises.
