LAYC Affiliation Pack

Having sent back your completed affiliation form with the appropiate payment, LAYC will process your application and forward it on to Youth Scotland.

Affiliation to us also means automatic affiliation to Youth Scotland and access to their services.

Once we process your affiliation an LAYC Affiliation Pack will be sent out to you and included in this shining folder will be a number of important bits of paper.

In the pack you will find:

  • Your LAYC Affiliation Certificate for the year in question (remember it runs from 1st November to 31st October) which printed on it will be your affiliation number and your library/resource number. The affiliation number is also your number for Youth Scotland and you will need to quote that if you are seeking to access members services or member discounts. The library/resource number enables affiliated groups and their staff to access and borrow resources from our extensive library. To view these resources you can either do it via the website (follow links from Members) or pop in and visit us. Remember to display your certificate so staff, committee, young people, children and parents know you are affiliated to us.
  • LAYC Annual Report for the past year is also in the pack. This will give you an update of our work over the past year including our financial position, who’s members and involved in our committee.
  • Promoting health and well being is a key part of our work and inconjunction with Edinburgh Leisure, Edinburgh based groups can access the Leisure Links scheme. Guidelines on how the scheme works and the discounts that apply when using the card(s) at Edinburgh Leisure facilities are in the pack. When you completed your affiliation form you would have indicated if you wished to be opart of the scheme. If you’ve been a previous member then the cards you currently have will be re-activated and if you’re joining for the first new cards will be issued to you. Rembember the cards can be used for personal use not just on member related bookings.
  • Members can access a small grants fund The Joyce Dunford Bequest which can provide grants up to £150 to support an activity, purchase equipment etc. The funds uses the interest accrued and disburses funds usually twice year. In the pack there is a simple one page application form which you should complete and send back to us. Deadline dates will feature on the website but if you send it in we will hold onto it till the closing date.
  • Information about our new members only HR and Employment Service provided by Law at Work is in the pack. It can be difficult to keep up to date with the regular employment changes and to be sure that you have the right procedures in place.   This free service will include access to sample employment contracts and policies through a secure part of our website (follow links from Members); a free consultation on an employment matter(s); regular employment email updates and access to Law at Work training courses. As part of our training programme will be offering two member only employment seminars a year which will be delivered by Law at Work drawn from concerns members have been raising.
  • LAYC offers an extensive and year round training programme that is affordable, accessable and relevant to children and youth groups. In your pack will be the latest programme and you can get updates and further information by clicking on the training section of the website. Member groups get priorty bookings and at a special members rate. Remember you can book via the website and gain certification for courses fully completed.
  • Our e-service provides access to over 1500 individuals who are registered to recieve our weekly bulletin which carries job vacancies in youth and children’s work and sign posts training and other events. This service is increasingly well received providing a very positive track record for recruiting staff and even better is a free service for members. Within the new website you will be able to post information directly to us for distribution and this service has now been extended to include e-cycle, e-networks, e-bulletins and e-vacancies.
  • The LAYC website has been re-launched witha new look and functions. Included within your affiliation pack was a covering letter that provided a password to access the secure Members area that hosts a raft of information including all the downloadable employment policies featured in our new HR and Employment Service courtesey of Law at Work.
  • Finally to help you all the other form filling that you will be faced with you get a free LAYC pen !

Youth Scotland will then process your information for their affiliation and you can expect an affiliation pack from them within a few weeks of your affiliation to LAYC.

For those that have taken out affiliation with insurance cover please note your employer’s liability insurance certificate will be issued from Youth Scotland.
