Thanks for looking for our winter training programme page and you can view it by clicking the link below.
Our training programme for the winter term 2012/13 is now available and has been circulated to member groups as part of the December mail shot.
The programme has a combination of courses such as Introduction to Curriculum for Excellence, Moving and Handling, Outcomes and Evaluation and two new courses – Young People Drugs and Young People with Literacies and Challenging Behavour all of which can be booked online.
We are also delighted to welcome back Child’s Play 7 in this programme with 6 courses over the day from circus skills to sports; hand hygiene with fun with food to child protection and crafts using scrapstore materials to DYA .
The programme also includes two extensive accredited youth work courses in the form of the Basic Youth Work course and PDA in Youth Work. Both these courses start early in the new year and run respectively to Easter and June with applications for the PDA closing mid December and the Basic mid January. We are delighted to be offering both these courses in partnership with East Lothian CLD and the PDA only with Midlothian CLD and Youth Scotland. For course details regarding the Basic Youth Work course, which has priority for East Lothian based staff and volunteers, please contact Ian Boardman directly on either 0131 667 1828 or ian@layc.org.uk for more detailed information.
The 2012/13 programme has got off to another successful start with numbers demonstrating increases over previous years with 203 training places taken up from the 19 courses run from the 24 offered with 49 different groups attending at least one course.
For those new to our training the majority of the courses run over 3 hours with most being held at the LAYC Offices. The cost to LAYC member groups will be £15 per person per course (for Child’s Play 7 you can get 2 courses 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon for a discount fee of £25)) . A maximum of 2 places per club can be reserved and thereafter reserve lists will operate and those on reserve will be offered any available places within a week of the course
Bookings can be made either directly by telephone (0131 667 1828), email (enquiries@layc.org.uk) or via the online booking page.
You will receive an email to confirm your place(s) or to be advised you have been put on a reserve list, and you will also receive a reminder email about a week in advance of the course to confirm that those named will be attending.
Groups will be invoiced post course and non attendees who have not informed LAYC within 24 hours of the course will be charged a double fee.
All courses are evaluated and, subject to satisfactory follow up exercises being completed, course certificates will be issued in accordance with the LAYC Training Scheme.
LAYC withholds the right to cancel any course where the level of bookings does not warrant the course going ahead.
We hope the winter programme provides some useful and valued training opportunities and we are currently working on the spring term (April to June 2013). If there are any other courses you might like us to provide please contact us on either 667 1828 or by email ian@layc.org.uk so we can see if that’s something we can assist with.
