Welcome to LAYC’s Training!
Here you will find everything you need to know about our training programme…
LAYC’s training programme runs annually between October and June, click here for a full list of courses and opportunities available for 2016/2017.
This year’s training programme includes a broad range of topics including mental health, emotional wellbeing, sexual health and physical activity alongside core topics such as Child Protection and Emergency First Aid.
Courses vary in length, time and day of provision so there is something to suit everyone from volunteer, sessional and core staff. We have short 2 hour networking sessions to full day (10am-4pm) training.
All courses are evaluated and course certificates issued for all practical and continuing professional development courses.
LAYC Member Groups* receive a 50% discount on training booking fees, starting at £15 per person. All our short networking events are provided free to all participants, these are a great opportunity to meet other youth and children’s workers and share good practice.
With affordability comes popularity, a maximum of 2 places per Member Group can be booked in the first instance (reserve lists will operate for courses which do not fill up)
Bookings can be made by emailing email@example.com or telephone (0131 667 1828)
You will receive an email confirmation or be advised you have been put on a reserve list. A reminder email will be sent to participants one week in advance of courses.
For all courses, places are usually restricted to two places per club initially, although reserve lists are kept if you want more places. One week before the course, contact is made with those booked on to confirm their attendance and reserve places will be allocated at that stage if any become available.
The LAYC Training Scheme which provides course certificates is only available to staff and volunteers from member groups and Individual Members of LAYC who complete and return the short Course Follow Up exercises.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
Course fee payments will be invoiced post training. However, LAYC operates a training cancellation policy where LAYC is not advised of a participant withdrawal 48 hours prior to course starting, course fees will still be invoiced.
LAYC makes every effort for training courses to run, but where the level of booking does not warrant the course going ahead LAYC may cancel the course with advance notice to participants.
